I'm on a card making roll

I've been busy making cards for swaps.

I like to participate in as many swaps as I can before school starts and my card making time will dwindle down to almost nothing. Once school starts, I may not have time to do much after feeding and cleaning up after my kids and husband, making sure the oldest son does his homework (surely he'll have some in 3rd grade), and of course keeping up with regular house work (laundry, dishes, vacuuming).

Cat Shower

I'm going to a Cat Shower and I made this card for it.

Front of Card

Inside has an embossed Cat but it's hard to see.

Inside Verse:
Bigger Fish, Fatter Mice, Slower Birds, More Yarn, Wishing you all the best!

What's a Cat Shower? We are a bunch of crazy cat people that use the excuse of someone getting a new cat as a way to have a party. The new cat is given gifts like you would for a baby shower. It was done a couple of years ago for my SIL when she got her first cat, then continued for my MIL when she got a cat last fall after not having one for 3 or so years. The current lady that we're having a party for Monday evening, makes more money than my DH and I combined so it's not like she needs anything. Plus she has one cat already (the 2nd cat is replacing the one that just recently died of an undetected heart defect). Talk about being hard to shop for!!! Anything I could afford, she could get the best that money can buy. Plus it's not like she NEEDS things for the cat. It's mainly a way to get together and get away from the guys.

Weigh - In: Still 134

Well, I didn't lose any this week. :( Guess I need to start exercising to get my metabolism moving. I need to set a time (like an appointment) to make me do it. Right now I feel like taking a nap.

This is Z's Christmas 2006

I think I'll enter this into a layout contest. I had to follow the layout but I did make a couple of minor alterations. Here's the origional layout:

My kids love all creatures

Even this garter snake. At least it's small - I've seen bigger ones caught by my husband.

DS#1 has a crawdad that I picked up. We went to the river today and caught some minnows to see if we can get it to eat. I haven't seen it eating yet and from everything I've read, it eats just about anything (raw hamburger, lettuce, fish flakes, fruit - everything so far was left alone for a day or so and made the tank water smell bad).

Yesterday's Fireworks

I live out in the country so I can have my own fireworks display on my acreage. Here's my kids enjoying some of what I was able to capture with my camera (some times I missed the high flying ones so I won't subject you to the black night sky LOL).
Sorry the pix are sideways...I'm still learning about blogger. I guess I can't turn the camera sideways.

Weight loss thus far

I'm down to 134!

Lost 6 lbs since starting the unofficial NurtiSystem diet. I'm following what they tell you to eat (my mother is doing it and she gave me copies of everything). My goal is to get to around 115. I started eating more healthy-ly (is that even a word?) on June 12 so six lbs in 3 weeks isn't bad. When I go back to work, I won't have to buy a new wardrobe because the waist band was too tight (like last year). Maybe if I'm lucky, I can get the new wardrobe because the waistbands wont stay up on me. I've got 5 or 6 weeks to go (I haven't checked exactly when school starts). Maybe a new winter wardrobe. Hey! a girl can dream. :)

Now if I could just try and exercise and get more sleep at night...

First Blog

I'm not much for keeping up a diary. I've tried for years because someday, our way of life will be different and this is something that may be of interest to future historians (think about Laura Ingalls Wilder's life and how things changed). Here's a couple of old entries that show you how often I keep up.

handwriting analysis at http://handwriting.feedbucket.com

The results of my analysis says:
You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, outward appearance, and symmetry.
You are a shy, idealistic person who does not find it easy to have relationships, especially intimate ones.
You are diplomatic, objective, and live in the present.
You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody!
You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others.

I'd say that's fairly accurate, although I don't see how one can be shy (line 2) and talkative (line 4). However, I also see this as pretty generic and I can see how someone can read into it what they want to. Still, it is something fun to do.

I guess I should share a little about me. I've been married for a full dozen years now and have two sons, one 6 years and the other 21 months. I like to spend what little free time I have between work (Public School Aide) and keeping house for 3 boys and 4 cats, sewing and scrapbooking with a little reading on the side. I live in Central MO but grew up in a very small town in NorthEast MO.
Just thought I'd share a few other blogs of interest since there's not much to read here:
