Sewn Together Challenge #13

Make a project using the colors brown, green, and orange paper only- no other colors can be used, except in the image [and even then, I used those colors mainly (only a tiny bit of red in the patches)]. There's clear glitter in center of the flowers. The orange and brown "tree bark" printed paper is from Creative Memories while the solid green is a DCWV summer cardstock.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out what everyone else has made at Sew Many Cards. Also on Friday you have to check out the Freebie Friday image every week HERE or else you'll need to visit the Sew Many Cards Store HERE later. Also, if you join the Sewn Together ning group, you just might find more free images.

Sewn Together Challenge #12

Make a Christmas project with bows. I used Santa on a Kangaroo - how's that for a new way of getting around? LOL

Any way, I colored the image with my Prisma markers but I used glitter paint for Santa's fur trim. I took green ink and inked the edges of my white cardstock. I used a scrap of gold ribbon, tied a bow and wrapped it around a scrap of wrapping paper (it was a sample in my kids school fundraiser and too pretty to toss with the catalog). I added the Happy Holidays stamp to complete the card.

Sew Many Cards is where you'll see what everyone else came up with.
You need to remember to check out the Freebie Friday image every week HERE or else you'll have to visit the Sew Many Cards Store HERE later to get it. Here's the wonderfully cute froggy image you can get. Also, if you join the Sewn Together ning group, you might find more free images. Don't forget that you can get the entire Winter Bonus Pack FREE with a $10 purchase the whole month of Nov. - more details and images on the blog.

Thanks for looking at my card.

Sewn Together Challenge #11

Make a project using Stitching- It doesn't have to be real, you can use fake, draw, piercing, templates- anything. Finally something to go with Sew Many Cards (thanks to Donna for suggesting it).
The first stitches I did was the yellow flowers. I used a Bazzill stitches pattern (my only Bazzill item - I hear the cardstock is great but I wouldn't know since I have never seen any locally). I chose DCWV glitter cardstock, poked the holes, then used 4 strands of yellow embroidery floss to sew the pattern. Then I took the image of Halen with Hat. Colored the body with colored pencils over a piece of texture card stock to give it a fabric look. Used my AtYou Specia glitter markers on the hat and beads. Then I mounted Halen on yellow DCWV cardstock and used 3 strands of blue embroidery floss to whip a blanket stitch around the circle.

You need to check out the Freebie Friday image every week HERE or else you'll have to visit the Sew Many Cards Store HERE later to get it. Don't forget that if you spend $10 at the Sewn Together store, you get the entire Winter Bonus Pack FREE. If you join us at the Sewn Together ning group, you might find more free images. Thanks for looking at my card and don't forget to see what everyone else made at Sew Many Cards.

Sneak Peaks Revealed

OK, you've been dying to know what those December release sneak peaks were and now you get to find out.

First is Morty the Moose decorating the Christmas tree and three candy stamps. I colored Morty with Prisma Markers and Atyou Spica glitter markers (fur trim, star and lights). The candies were colored with colored pencils and coated with Accent Essentials glossy to make it look like plastic wrap. I used a pop dot under the candies to make them more "puffy". I mounted Morty on DCWV cardstock and distressed the edges then mounted it on dark purple. I followed Sweet Sketch Wednesday's sketch but not their color challenge.
This second card loosely follows the Willow Sketchie Challenge.
I colored the North Pole with colored pencils and then glued glitter on for snow. Back when I used to make things from Polymer Clay, I found out this glitter did funny things in heat so I gave it a blast with my heat gun. The candy was treated the same way as the above candies. All cardstock came from DCWV.

The final card used the same purple paper as the first card but the other paper and cardstock are just scraps. I colored the mug with my Prismamarkers then cut it out. I made my mug full of hot chocolate with a marshmallow.

Monster Hop

That title has the "Monster Mash" running in my head now. LOL And I'm evil and I'm going to get it into your head too. Hahahahahahahaha. So everybody has to sing with me (I'd love to make it play the music but I don't want to mess with the audio player I have already so you lucked out there) .

Bobby "Boris" Pickett

Monster Mash

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"

It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the mash
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash

Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

My favorite "Halloween Song" is probably "Witches Invitation" by Carmen but most people don't know it. My youngest son's favorite song is "Witch Doctor" although I heard him singing "Monster Mash" (accapella) in the back seat of the car yesterday.

Well, today is the day for Sarabeth's Happy Halloween Monster Blog Hop. Be sure to start there and participate in her challenge:

Create any Halloween Home decor (3 entries)

Share a pic of YOU in a Halloween costume and tell us about it (2 entries)

Share a Halloween Memory (1 entry)

Winner will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to the Die Cuts R Us Shop!!!

There are over a dozen of us here on the Halloween Hop so please go back to the beginning if you just now found my blog without going to the other blogs first. Sarabeth

You should have come from Emma and when you get done here, you should go to Angela.

Make sure you visit each one of the blogs because you never know who's got a give away. (hint hint someone else also has one too).

I'm going to get you started by thinking of my Halloween memories. (blogger isn't letting me keep all the colors the same and I don't know html good enough to fix it)
I can remember the hard plastic mask with the tiny mouth hole for fresh air. I can remember my Dad taking my brother and me around our tiny town (while Mom stayed home to hand out candy) and getting homemade goodies like pop corn balls, and candy or caramel apples (now days you worry about razorblades and poisons). Some of the costumes I remember are Wonder Woman, Wendy (friend to Casper the friendly ghost) and an Old Lady. I can remember being at my school dressed as an Old Lady, and the other kids couldn't figure out who I was (which when there's only 10 kids in your class it's not hard to eliminate/narrow down your choices and figure it out). I walked around the gym for our Halloween parade, hunched over and leaning on my cane. I won a prize for that costume and performance.

Have fun. I'll see you around the blog hop. :)

Sewn Together Challenge #10

The Challenge today: Make a Thanksgiving/Fall Card and include buttons, brads or flowers (or all) . I chose pilgrim Tayla and colored her with my Prisma markers. I glued two buttons and a felt flower to meet the challenge parameters. I used an old sketch card that I had started but never finished so I don't remember much of the background details. I know the leaf print is a digi-printable but don't remember who I got it from. It was printed on velum so the background color shows thru. The beginnings of this card worked perfectly for this challenge because it gave me a spot for the large flower, two buttons (I could even included a single brad in the small square but I thought it would take away from the leaves).
Thanks for looking at my card.
Be sure to check out everyone else's creations and be sure to check back this weekend for big new release information. I may even give you a sneak peak on Thursday (hint, hint)!
