SSDS Challenge: Recipe day

I am late getting this posted. I got the card made, but (as you could tell from my last post, my carpet got soaked from a backed up drain for the water softener so my room is a shambles right now) couldn't find time to post. Well, I guess it's better late than never, right? The challenge is to use one digi image (I used one of Recese's Designs), 3 designer papers (all by Creative Memories), 1 ribbon/lace (I found a small piece in my sewing stash that was just about the right size). I followed a SplitCoastStampers sketch SC242.

Sewn Together Challenge #3

This has been one of those bad kind of weeks. About one in five kids are dropping like flies to the flu at my school but thankfully I'm avoiding them. Then because I was busy with a minor flood in my craft room (there is a leak in the garage somehow and it came in to my room [my carpet is still wet right now]), I forgot I had a Sewn Together Challenge to get out. The Challenge is Christmas. It's too early for me to think about Christmas but I did get one card or maybe a scrapbook journal block made for it. I colored Miki with my Bic markers and used a blob of glitter paint for his hat. I'm trying something new with my photos so we'll see how this looks for a while.

Sewn Together Challenge #2

Challenge #2: Use a Halloween Image and create a card or papercraft using any/all of the following colors (and no other colors): Purple, yellow, neutral (black does NOT count, white DOES count) pink, or red.I managed to get Purple, Yellow, White, and Pink (no red unless you count the dots but they're more of a maroon color IMHO). My papers came from DCWV Fun In the Sun Summer Stack. I loosely followed a past Mojo Monday sketch for my placement of the "Tayla Scared" image that you can find at SewManyCards . I colored Tayla to resemble our cat Tiger and __?__Stripe (boys are debating if he's a black cat with gray stripes or gray cat with black stripe so Gray or Black will go in front of Stripe for his name) and the pumpkin with colored pencils.

SSDS Challenge: Follow the Sketch

It's time for another Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays Challenge and this time we had to follow a sketch. I chose to follow Challenge 46 at Secret Crafter which was to use Turquoise and Brown. I used my Prisma markers to color this digi image by Digital Ink - Co. of Charlie the horse (used the colorless blender to make the appaloosa spots on his rump). The turquoise printed paper is a Lindsay W. design. I also ran the DCWV brown cardstock thru my Cuttlebug with the Swirls folder and sanded the raise design so the white core showed.

First Sewn Together Card

I was notified by email Monday, Aug. 17 from Angela telling me that I was one of the folks chosen for her new Design Team over at Sewn Together. I'm really excited because Angela has some super cute images in her store that I can't wait to play with them. Be sure to check out the other great Design Team Members. (I still have discounted cards from After Christmas sales to last me a few more years yet.)

My first card using a Sewn Together image. It's Halen the Hair. I picked him because it looked like a great Back-to-School image but my paper choices make me think "baby".

I followed and flipped Mojo Monday's 100th Celebration #7 sketch. The papers used were a freebie in a UK card magazine and I cut them into 1.25 inch squares. I colored the bunny with my Prisma markers using French Gray 20% with a darker gray (FG30%) for his bangs and under the ears. I used my Creative Memories circle cutting system for the circles. I used my Studio G glitter glue to make the three dots in the lower right corner. TIP: do not use your embossing heat tool to try speeding up the drying process...I made at least one dot act like it was boiling.

SSDS Challenge: Monochromatic

It's challenge day over at Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays again. This time you have to make a monochromatic color item. I chose to find a challenging color scheme (or at least a color I haven't used for a while). For the card, I picked orange. I took a DCWV cardstock and ran it thru my cuttlebug for the dry embossing. Since the textured cardstock is white underneith, I took my spongy sanding block and exposed it. Then I had this one orange Flora-Doodle flower from Petaloo available. I then used my Cricut and Sure Cuts a Lot program to cut the Happy Birthday phrase from velum (I was hoping the orange would show thru but it's thicker velum than most scrapbook velum so it looks whiter).

Next I did a scrapbook page. My youngest started Kindergarten Wednesday and brought home this great report. It is also done in a monochromatic scheme. Sorry, I don't have a wide scanner nor do I know how to "stitch" two scans together to make one photo. I used a Fiskars punch to create the mat (someone was giving it away at work so I snatched it up LOL) then glued foam dragonflies on a couple of spots that didn't work out right. The fancy border qualifies it for the Scrapmaster's Paradise Finally Friday challenge and the dragonflies qualifies it for the Paper Cutz "It flies" challenge.

Ribboned Skunk

This is for the ribbon swap. It's a little different from the first one, but very similar. The striped paper is CM, the printed paper is TAC, and don't know about the ribbon. The Skunk came from Dawn Moore.
